First the Saints Came Marching In;
Now the Roots of Music Marches in the 2013 Rose Bowl Parade
– NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Marching Crusaders, New Orleans’ only tuition free, city-wide marching band, have been selected to march in the 124th Tournament of the Roses Parade on January 1st, 2013, it was announced today by The Roots of Music. The Roots of Music is a not-for profit music education and academic mentoring program founded by Rebirth Brass Band drummer Derrick Tabb and Allison Reinhardt in 2007. (And the Roots of Music just got a little more impressive: the Rebirth Brass Band won a Grammy!)
“This invitation makes it feel like we just got an Emmy for Marching Bands. Wow!” Derrick Tabb, Founder.
In order to provide transportation and lodging for the 150 Crusaders, The Roots of Music's fundraising goal is $375,000!
