Roots and Rebirth at Crawfish Fest
On Saturday April 16th, the Roots of Music Marching Crusaders will be performing together with the Rebirth Brass Band at Tulane's Crawfish Fest.
Please come out and show your support, and while you're there, enjoy some great crawfish.

Campaign to Sustain marches this Saturday in the Quarter!
Please come out to the Quarter this Saturday, December 18, to support our Campaign To Sustain. We are trying to raise $1 million to secure the program for the next three years.
The band will be out in Jackson Square at 2pm and will parade the French Quarter afterwards till about 4pm.

Stephanie Heriger of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, wrote an inspiring blog about The Roots of Music presenting at the American Music Masters week
Teachers are inpsired to make change happen classroom during American Music Masters week.
Allison Reinhardt and Lawrence Rawlings went to Cleveland to present the ROM program at the museum's event. Stephanie ends her blog with the following compelling note:
"I hope that in hearing about Roots of Music’s success, Teachers Rock participants were inspired to continue to make positive changes in their own classrooms. Music can help make that happen. Rock and roll can help make that happen. No excuses."

The ROM kids will be marching in Globus and Cosmos Parade in the French Quarter tomorrow night, Thursday December 2, from 6:25pm till 7pm.
Parade Route:
- Parade Starts: 6:25pm - 221 Carondelet St.
- Cross Canal onto Bourbon Street
- Turn Right on Toulouse Street
- Turn Right on Decatur Street toward Canal- One Block
- Turn Right on St. Louis
Finish: 6:50pm in front of “New Orleans School of Cooking” 524 St. Louis Street --1st block off Decatur (Middle of Block left side of Street)

Roots of Music Halloween Dance
The Roots of Music will be hosting a Halloween Dance at Grace Church located at 3700 Canal Street Saturday October 30th. The dance will be from 6-10pm and we will have a DJ and Secondline band. Admission is free for all Roots of Music students and $3.00 for family and friends. Please come and support the Roots of Music at this family event.

Muses Parade CANCELLED for Thursday!
The Muses Parade has been cancelled for Thursday night. Muses has rescheduled and will roll on Friday at 7:15pm.
However, The Marching Crusaders will not being doing this parade.
So ROM parents and children: you are off on Friday. Saturday morning report time is 7:30 am at The Mint.

The Roots of Music is proud to announce its founder, native New Orleanian Derrick Tabb, is a finalist for the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year having been selected by a CNN panel from over 9,000 individuals nominated. The honor of CNN Hero of the Year will be given to the finalist who receives the most votes from online voting by the general public, and will receive a cash award of $100,000 to go towards his or her special cause. The public can cast their votes as often as desired on the CNN website until November 19th with the winner being announced on Thanksgiving Day.
